ASIA 100 (3) Introduction to East Asian Cultures - China, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea & North Korea (in English)
To provide basic knowledge and understanding of the cultures of Asian countries (China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, and Vietnam) including elements from arts and cultures, social rituals, religions, philosophies, history of the region, socio-economic and political structures. Students will compare what makes the East so different from the West. ASIA 100 was formerly called ASIA 230; credit will not be granted for both courses. (3:0:0)
Prerequisite: Min. "C+" in any 3 credits of English or permission of instructor.
ASIA 230 (3) Introduction to Asian Cultures
This course will provide students with a basic knowledge and understanding of the cultures of the main Asian countries, including elements from linguistics, literature, history of the region, socio-economic and political structures. (3:0:0)
Prerequisite: Min. "C+" in any 3 credits of English or permission of instructor. Experience with at least one Asian language is recommended.
